Research Assistant Position at the University of Houston

Effective immediately, the Child Temperament, Thoughts, and Emotions Laboratory at the University of Houston is seeking to hire a qualified Research Assistant to work on a federally-funded project on children and mothers with anxiety-related difficulties.

Position description: This is a Research Assistant position. The candidate will work on a federally-funded project that includes interacting with schools, parents and children. The candidate is expected to coordinate and supervise data collection and data management efforts; enter data in electronic databases such as SPSS and Microsoft Office applications; and oversee scheduling of participant appointments and study sessions. Excellent organizational and managerial skills are needed to maintain participant files, records, and university and federal regulatory documents to compliance. The candidate will collaborate with principal investigators on protocol implementation. This is a 1-year position, with the possibility of an additional year pending satisfactory performance and availability of funds.

A flexible schedule is needed as participants are generally scheduled during after-school hours and, occasionally, on weekends. The candidate can expect his/her schedule to change frequently based on study and participant schedules.

Minimum qualifications: Bachelor’s degree (Psychology preferred) with at least 1 year of experience.

Preferred qualifications: A Bachelor’s degree in Psychology. Experience working with children (ages 8-12) and families. Experience working in a research setting. Prior experience with participant recruitment and data collection.
