A new, full-time health psychologist position has been approved beginning July
1, 2013 for the psychology program at the Helen F. Graham Cancer Center at
Christiana Care Health System in Newark, Delaware. The primary function of
this position is to provide direct psychosocial services to people affected by
cancer, which includes individual therapy, couple/family counseling, inpatient
consultations, and group therapy. Additional functions include participation in
program development and collaboration in behavioral research.
This psychologist will join a busy team of two other full-time psychologists at
the Helen F. Graham Cancer Center. The Helen F. Graham Cancer Center was
one of the first sites selected for the National Cancer Institute (NCI)
Community Cancer Center Program (NCCCP) and is nationally recognized for its
multidisciplinary model of care, leadership in research, and provision of support
services. The Helen F. Graham Cancer Center is a part of the Christiana Care

The Helen F. Graham Cancer Center is located in northern Delaware,
approximately 40 miles outside Philadelphia. With close proximity to multiple

include condominiums on the riverfront in Wilmington, modern homes in the
surrounding suburbs, and more rural settings. Delaware is also the home to

Nearby Philadelphia is the home to several professional sports teams; there is
also minor league level baseball in Wilmington and collegiate games at the
University of Delaware. Delaware also has many state parks that make for
good hiking, jogging, cycling, and kayaking.
Qualified applicants will have a Ph.D. (or equivalent degree) in clinical or
counseling psychology. Specialty training in psycho-oncology/health
psychology at the graduate and post-graduate level and/or 2 years of
experience in a medical setting treating cancer patients strongly preferred.
Expertise providing evidence-based interventions in oncology populations,
which includes but is not limited to assessment, diagnosing psychopathology,
developing case conceptualizations and treatment plans, and the treatment of
adjustment, anxiety, and mood disorders. Delaware license or eligible for
Delaware license. Qualified applicants will also have training and experience in
collaborating in behavioral research and program development.
