Opening for a Clinical Psychologist at Western State Hospital

CLINICAL PSYCHOLOGIST:  Western State Hospital (WSH), a Joint Commission and CMS accredited public psychiatric hospital, seeks a clinical psychologist to join a multi-disciplinary treatment team serving individuals with serious mental disorders.  


Duties include diagnostic interviewing, psychological assessment, behavioral interventions, group and individual psychotherapy, forensic evaluations, and supervision of paraprofessional staff.  The successful candidate will join a staff of 16 licensed clinical psychologists.  WSH is located in Staunton, Virginia, where a new facility is scheduled to open in fall 2013.  Staunton is in the beautiful Shenandoah Valley near historic Charlottesville, home to the University of Virginia.  We hope that the high quality of life, strong collegial multidisciplinary professional staff, quality reputation, and working relationships with academic institutions will attract the psychologist we seek.  Salary is negotiable with the state’s excellent benefit package.  Doctoral degree in clinical psychology from an APA accredited program and licensed or license eligible as a clinical psychologist in Virginia is required.
