Position Vacancy: Couple and Family Therapy, Assistant/Associate Professor (Tenure Track)

The Department of Family Science, School of Public Health, University of Maryland, College Park seeks a full-time tenure track Assistant or Associate Professor in Couple and Family Therapy (CFT) to join a dynamic department with family science, maternal and child health, and couple and family therapy programs. Candidates should be able to (1) lead an externally funded research program, 2) teach and mentor undergraduate and graduate students, and 3) play a central role in developing the Department’s research and service initiatives with community partners.
Qualifications: Candidates should hold a doctoral degree (Ph.D.) in Marriage and Family Therapy (MFT) or similar discipline, be a clinical fellow in the American Association for Marriage and Family Therapy (AAMFT), and eligible for licensure as a marriage and family therapist in Maryland. Additionally, candidates should be an Approved Supervisor or an Approved Supervisor Candidate. The ideal candidate must demonstrate a strong record of teaching and published academic research; a record of or strong potential to secure external funding to support research; and an expertise in developing collaborative research initiatives with community partners. As a program in the School of Public Health we are particularly interested in candidates who can bridge marriage and family therapy and family health and wellness.
Salary and Appointment Date: This is a 9-month tenure-track appointment; salary is commensurate with qualifications. Funding is guaranteed for 9 months annually, with the potential to extend salary support to 12 months with external funds. Appointments may begin in August 2014 or on a mutually agreed-upon date.

Position Vacancy: Maternal and Child Health, Assistant/Associate Professor (Tenure Track)

The Department of Family Science, School of Public Health, University of Maryland, College Park seeks a full-time tenure track Assistant or Associate Professor in Maternal and Child Health (MCH) to (1) lead an externally funded research program in maternal and child health, 2) teach and mentor graduate students, and 3) play a central role in the Department’s dynamic and growing MCH Ph.D. program. Preference will be given to candidates with a strong record of grant experience, especially in NIH-funded research (e.g. R01, R03, or K01 grant).
Qualifications: Candidates should hold a doctoral degree (Ph.D., Sc.D.) in Maternal and Child Health or another relevant public health field. However, candidates with a Ph.D. in a behavioral science discipline or a medical degree will be considered. An M.P.H. degree and/or substantial public health training and research experience are essential if the highest degree is not in public health. The ideal candidate will have demonstrated excellence in research, publication, and graduate teaching, including previous and current funded research from federal agencies and/or foundations. Candidates should have high level research skills (including quantitative methods), a strong interest in collaboration, and a commitment to community engagement and cultural competence. Postdoctoral training and experience working with a Maternal and Child Health Leadership TrainingProgram are desirable.
Responsibilities: The successful candidate will lead a nationally-recognized, externally-funded research program, while also collaborating with other faculty and departments within the School, the University, and the University of Maryland, Baltimore. The candidate’s research should target areas of major significance in MCH, which may include research on fathers and other family members. Additional primary responsibilities include teaching MCH courses, mentoring and supervising graduate students, and professional/university service.
