Psychology Postdoctoral Fellowship in Autism Spectrum Disorder at the NYUMC Child Study Center 2014-2016

The NYU Langone Medical Center Child Study Center, an academic clinical center specializing in treatment of child and adolescent psychiatric disorders, is recruiting for a two-year clinical post-doctoral fellowship in the Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) Clinical and Research Program. This position provides advanced training in assessment and treatment of ASD, related developmental disorders, and co-occurring disorders.
The postdoctoral fellow will work under the mentorship of Sarah Kuriakose, Ph.D. and Adriana Di Martino, M.D. The fellowship is designed to begin in Summer 2014 and offers the opportunity for transition to a junior faculty position once the fellow has obtained a New York State license. The program will include but will not be limited to:

•  Training in diagnostic assessment of ASD and associated psychopathology using standardized interview techniques
• Training in treatment approaches specific to autism (e.g., Pivotal Response Treatment, social skills training, parent education), as well as therapies targeting psychopathology often associated with ASD (e.g., Parent Child Interaction Therapy, Cognitive Behavior Therapy)

• Developing mastery in writing comprehensive reports and designing treatment plans
• Opportunity to present to audiences of professionals and/or consumers
• Opportunity to participate in ongoing research studies.
• A formal didactic program.

During the first year, fellows are expected to attain research reliability on the Autism Diagnostic Observation Schedule - 2 and the Autism Diagnostic Interview –Revised.  Thus, familiarity with these instruments is preferred but not required. In addition, the fellow will be trained to fidelity in behavioral approaches to ASD intervention. During the second year, the fellow will be expected to propose an elective related to long-term career goals (e.g., scholarly manuscript, specialized clinical projects).

This position requires completion of an APA-approved internship and a doctoral degree from an APA-accredited program. The candidate cannot begin their fellowship until a NY State temporary permit has been obtained. Applications will be accepted and reviewed on a rolling basis, until the position is filled.
