New Faulty Positions at St. Jude Children's Research Hospital

The Department of Psychology at St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital is accepting applications for a new faculty position.   We will consider candidates at any rank, although mid-career candidates (at late Assistant or Associate level) are especially encouraged to apply.  All candidates should have a Ph.D and clinical internship from APA/CPA accredited programs in psychology with specialty training in pediatric or clinical child psychology.  All applicants must be eligible for Tennessee licensure in Psychology.

The position will have a primary research focus, with some clinical commitment expected as well.  Specific areas of research focus are open, but interest in working with a pediatric oncology population in the general area of cancer prevention and control is essential.  Possible research areas could include health promotion and health outcomes research, survivorship issues, behavioral genetics/genomics, pain, or palliative care/end of life.  Specific area of interest is less important than promise of research success, and capacity to develop an independent research program.  Faculty rank will be commensurate with previous experience, including publication in peer reviewed journals and success in obtaining extramural funding.

St. Jude is an internationally recognized leader in research for children with catastrophic disease and was recently voted the number one place to work in academia by The Scientist magazine.  Salary and benefit packages are very competitive.  Research positions include a startup allowance and a strong ongoing commitment of research support including space and personnel.  Joint appointments to the Department of Pediatrics at the University of Tennessee College of Medicine, and the University of Memphis Department of Psychology are also available.  Applications will be accepted until the positions are filled.

Interested candidates should submit a current CV, cover letter with statement of interests, and representative publications to: Sean Phipps, Ph.D., Chair, Department of Psychology, St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 262 Danny Thomas Place, Memphis, TN 38105, or via email to sean.phipps@stjude.org.
