May Institute, a non-profit organization providing behavioral health, educational, and rehabilitative services to individuals and families at nearly 200 service locations nationally, is accepting applications to the 2014-2015 Postdoctoral Fellowship Program in Clinical Psychology. The institute has openings for one postdoctoral fellow at the following locations: May Center School for Autism and Developmental Disabilities (Randolph, MA), Autism Spectrum Disorders Clinic (Randolph, MA), and Fernandes Center for Children & Families/Saint Anne’s Hospital(Fall River, Massachusetts). All positions are a minimum, one-year supervised experience based on the scientist-practitioner training model. Fellows receive individual and group supervision toward psychology licensure application in Massachusetts. May Center School for Autism and Developmental Disabilities
The fellow at the May Center School will take a leadership role in the school’s CBT program for autism under the mentorship of Melanie DuBard Ph.D., BCBA-D, Stephanie Child Psy.D., and Nathan Lambright Psy.D., BCBA-D. This program has adapted traditional CBT methods to create an innovative delivery system for individuals with developmental delays. It combines individual therapy with classroom consultation to increase skills acquisition and skills outside of therapy sessions The position will allow fellows to develop expertise in CBT for children with autism and provide oversight of a clinical program. As well, fellows will (a) maintain an individual caseload, (b) lead bi-weekly supervision groups with master’s level clinicians and doctoral interns, (c) train classroom staff on the implementation and data collection of skill use, and (d) prepare manuscripts and conference presentations. Prior training and commitment to evidence-based treatment and experience with populations with developmental delays is also required. Autism Spectrum Disorders (ASD) Clinic
The fellow at the ASD clinic will provide diagnostic assessment and differential diagnostic services to children/adolescents and their families who are suspected of having an autism spectrum disorder under the mentorship of Marisa Morelos, Psy.D., James K. Luiselli, Ed.D., ABPP, BCBA-D, and Hanna C. Rue, Ph.D., BCBA-D. Responsibilities include (a) conducting clinical interviews, diagnostic assessments, and comprehensive feedbacks with families who seek services at the ASD clinic, (b) implementing a parent training seminar series, (c) supervising doctoral interns, (d) assisting the Clinic Director in operations and administrative functions, (e) initiating research projects with the clinic team, and (f) contributing to research dissemination through conference presentations and publications. Applicants should have a doctoral degree in psychology or related field, experience working with children and adolescents in a clinical setting, training in and experience with ASD diagnostic tools (ADOS strongly preferred), and knowledge of diagnostic instruments commonly utilized in diagnosing and assessing children with developmental disorders. Fernandes Center for Children and Families (FCCF)
The Fellow at FCCF will provide child and family services in an interdisciplinary outpatient medical setting under the mentorship of Jeanne Paccia Ph.D. and other staff psychologists. In this position, the fellow will gain further training and experience in (a) clinical diagnostic assessment for children and adolescents who present with a variety of issues, including developmental, learning and behavior disorders, emotional challenges, and co-occurring medical condition, (b) delivery of psychotherapeutic treatment to children, adolescents and families utilizing evidence-based practices, including curriculum-based group treatments, (c) team participation in interdisciplinary clinics, including Growth and Nutrition, Feeding, and Autism Spectrum Disorder, (d) administration and interpretation of comprehensive psychological test batteries, including neuropsychological and personality/projective measures, (e) psychological consultation to on-site Pediatric Medical Specialty Clinics (e.g., Cardiology, GI, Endocrinology, Neurology), and (f) training/supervision of psychology interns/practicum students.
