Buena Vista University seeking Assistant Psych professor

Buena Vista University, a private, nationally recognized Midwestern baccalaureate institution located on the shores of a 3,200 acre natural lake, invites applications for a tenure track position in Clinical/Counseling Psychology or Biological Psychology at the Assistant Professor level to begin August 2014. Responsibilities include teaching selections from the following courses: Psychobiology, Counseling/Clinical, Abnormal Psychology, Cognition, Sensation and Perception, and courses within the candidate’s area of expertise.  Discretionary instructional opportunities can include supervising student internships, designing and leading international travel courses or participating in the first-year experience course.  A record of strong teaching experience and the ability and willingness to engage undergraduates in a research program is essential. Ph.D. required.
Candidates must demonstrate a commitment to excellence in undergraduate education. Preference will be given to candidates who have expertise in clinical/counseling. In addition to a wide variety of courses, the Psychology program at BVU emphasizes research, critical thinking, and communication skills.  Our students are expected to present independent research at regional undergraduate conferences. Upper division students are encouraged to present at regional professional conferences. The Psychology program at BVU has an active Psi Chi and Psychology Club.
Review of applications will begin February 20, 2014, and will continue until the position is filled.  We are looking for candidates who are excited to work in the Midwest at a financially sound, small, private university. Buena Vista University has an enrollment of about 1000 full-time residential students. The Storm Lake community has a population of approximately 11,000 and is one of the most ethnically diverse small cities in Iowa.
