Clinical Health Psychologist Position, University of Minnesota Medical School

The Division of General Medicine in the Department of Medicine of the University of Minnesota Medical School is seeking a full-time clinical health psychologist. The position primarily involves clinical assessment, psychotherapy/intervention, and hospital consultation with medical patients, including those with acute, chronic, and life-threatening illnesses. Outpatient activities are in the Primary Care Center and other clinics of the University of Minnesota Medical Center. Clinical services are provided through the University of Minnesota Physicians, a professional organization with over 700 physicians and 1,400 health professionals who work interprofessionally in primary care and specialty care areas and are dedicated to providing quality patient-focused care. Health Psychology services are provided on an outpatient basis and as inpatient consultation to medical units.
 The position involves contact with diverse clinical populations, including, but not limited, to primary care, general internal medicine, cardiology, endocrine, oncology, neurology, obesity/bariatrics, solid organ and bone marrow transplants, sleep disorders, and cochlear implants. It also provides exposure to a broad range of psychiatric conditions. Although this position is primarily clinical, opportunities for scholarship and research collaboration exist and are encouraged. Participation in ongoing research projects and in grant-funded research is encouraged. The position offers limited involvement in education and training. The position will include participation in quality improvement projects involving management of chronic medical illness (e.g., Diabetes Mellitus) and depression as well as the division’s mentoring program for faculty. The position is at the level of Assistant Professor in the Clinical Scholar Track.
 Strong clinical, research, writing, and interpersonal skills are required in this busy academic health care setting.  Clinical experience in a medical setting is a prerequisite. Preference will be given to graduates of APA-accredited scientist-practitioner clinical psychology doctoral programs (Ph.D.) and APA-accredited internships. Eligibility for and intent to pursue board certification in clinical health psychology or clinical psychology is also desired. Licensure with the Minnesota Board of Psychology is required by the start date.  Members of minority groups under-represented in academia are especially encouraged to apply.
