Postdoctoral Fellowship in Academic-Community Collaboration and Program Evaluation

Program Description: This is a full-time two year postdoc with an appointment at University of Mississippi Medical Center (UMMC). The fellowship responsibilities consist of approximately 10 hours per week accessing privileges and duties associated with the training consortium and 30-35 hours per week of community collaboration while embedded within a large behavioral/mental health service organization for children and adolescents. The focus of the community collaboration is program evaluation, utilizing the expertise of the postdoc and recommendations from program evaluation projects to improve service delivery at the organization. The fellow will be responsible for meeting with program and agency leaders to determine evaluation needs, designing evaluation projects, collecting primary data or requesting data from medical records or administrative databases, performing analyses, and preparing reports that are accessible to a lay audience. Additionally, the fellow is expected to convey evaluation results to the community agency. 
Setting:  The UMMC Postdoctoral Training Program is housed within the Department of Psychiatry and Human Behavior – Division of Psychology. The department runs a thriving predoctoral psychology internship program and the faculty are research active. Fellows are expected to attend grant-writing seminars, research rounds, case conference, and grand rounds within the division and department. Mississippi Children’s Home Services (MCHS) serves approximately 1,500 children and families each year in 17 offices throughout the state of Mississippi. Rarely, the fellow may be asked to travel to outlying offices and will be compensated for travel. MCHS programs include adoption, family preservation, in-home/wraparound services, therapeutic foster care, school day treatment, residential substance abuse treatment, shelters, psychiatric residential treatment, autism assessment and treatment programs, and an evidence-based outpatient psychotherapy clinic.
Trainee Requirements: The postdoctoral fellow must have attended an APA-accredited PhD program and an APA accredited predoctoral internship, and all degree requirements must be complete. The fellow must possess strong research design and analysis skills. The fellow should express interest in a career in program evaluation, dissemination and implementation, community outreach, or related area of study. No prior training in program evaluation is required.
