Psychologist Position-Rees-Jones Center for Foster Care Excellence

Rees-Jones Center for Foster Care Excellence - Psychologist Position
The Rees-Jones Center for Foster Care Excellence and the Center for Pediatric Psychiatry at Children’s Medical Center (CMC) in Dallas are seeking a full-time psychologist to provide clinical services, research, program development, and mental health program leadership for the hospital’s Rees-Jones Center.

As a member of the Rees-Jones Center, the psychologist will evaluate and provide intervention services to patients who have experienced trauma and who receive their medical care in the Rees-Jones Center.  Evaluations will include clinical interviews, testing, and communication of recommendations to members of the multidisciplinary team, schools, Child Protective Services, and foster families.  Interventions will include trauma-focused cognitive behavioral therapy, cognitive behavioral therapy for depression and anxiety, behavior management, sleep hygiene, group psychoeducation and therapy, and general promotion of skills to help protect children against the negative sequelae of abuse and neglect.  A major component of the position will be collaboration with the Rees-Jones Center team to implement a program of research that will inform both clinical practice and the development of a self-sustaining program of clinical services.  During the initial implementation of this research project (i.e., the first year of the position), the psychologist’s time will be split between assessment and intervention.  After the first year of the position, the psychologist’s caseload will be more heavily focused on intervention and therapy, with some testing. Opportunities will be available for training in PCIT and trauma-focused evidence-based treatments. Additionally, the psychologist in this position may have opportunities to act in a leadership role for other mental health staff within the Rees-Jones Center.

The position will be considered for a faculty appointment in the Department of Psychiatry at UT Southwestern. Along with clinical responsibilities, the position includes opportunities for research, teaching, and supervision.
