Postdoctoral Fellowship in Cognitive Affective Neuroscience

Post-Doctoral Fellowship in Cognitive Affective Neuroscience
Binghamton University (SUNY) / Cornell University

We are seeking a post-doctoral fellow to assist with a two-site (Binghamton University and Cornell University) study examining the interplay of emotion and attention.  The research team includes Drs. Brandon Gibb, Gregory Strauss, and Vladimir Miskovic (Binghamton University) and Dr. Adam Anderson (Cornell University).  The project focuses on a multi-method, multiple-levels-of-analysis approach including functional, structural and optical imaging (fMRI, DTI, and fNIR), EEG/ERP, eye-tracking (gaze patterns and pupil dilation), and genetics.  This will be a two-year appointment with the possibility of renewal.  The anticipated start date is July 1, 2014, though this is negotiable.

Responsibilities: The fellow will help to coordinate activities and assessments across the two sites.  The fellow will also have numerous opportunities to assist in the preparation of manuscripts as well as opportunities for independent research.

Eligibility Qualifications: Qualified candidates must have completed all requirements for a doctoral degree in psychology, neuroscience, biomedical engineering or equivalent. Experience analyzing and interpreting results of fMRI data are required. Additional experience with eye tracking, EEG/ERPs and/or proficiency in MATLAB programming are highly desirable. Because one of our primary goals is to implement studies utilizing concurrent fMRI/EEG assessments, applicants with experience with this type of approach are particularly encouraged to apply.

How to Apply: Interested candidates meeting the eligibility requirement should send a cover letter, C.V., and 3 letters of recommendation via email to Drs. Brandon Gibb (bgibb@binghamton.edu) and Adam Anderson (aka47@cornell.edu). Please make sure that the cover letter addresses the specific reasons for your interest in this fellowship opportunity and a brief overview of your previous research experience. Review of applications will begin upon receipt and continue until the position is filled. In the subject heading of the email, please use the format: “fMRI/EEG Post-Doc Application-YOUR LAST NAME”.
