Pediatric Psychologist Position in the Division of Pediatric Psychiatry and Psychology at Akron Children's Hospital

The Division of Pediatric Psychiatry and Psychology in the Department of Pediatrics at Akron Children’s Hospital

We are seeking a pediatric psychologist in the Division of Pediatric Psychiatry and Psychology, to join the Outpatient Multidisciplinary Feeding Team within Akron Children’s Hospital Rehabilitative Division to provide evidence based diagnostic assessment and treatment interventions to children and adolescents.  The team includes psychology, speech pathology, nutrition, and occupational therapy, and sees a range of presenting problems, including medically or behaviorally fragile children, often with complex medical histories, acute onset of choking, dysphagia and other conditions.  The position offers the opportunity for collaborative expansion of the existing feeding program and opportunities for clinical outcomes research.

Additionally, this pediatric psychologist position will participate in the active inpatient consultation/liaison service of the Division as part of the C/L pediatric psychology team, providing direct patient care and supervision to the pediatric psychology fellows who rotate on this service.  There are many opportunities for participation in training programs, including supervision of pediatric psychology postdoctoral fellows and predoctoral trainees, and training of pediatric residents and child psychiatry fellows.

Requirements include a doctorate degree (Ph.D. or Psy.D.) in clinical psychology (child or pediatric emphasis preferred) from an APA-accredited doctoral program, completion of an APA-accredited internship (child or pediatric emphasis preferred), license eligibility in the State of Ohio, and a strong interest in evidence based pediatric psychology. Strong collaboration skills for working with physicians, nurses, social workers and other health care professionals are essential.   Applicants who have completed a post-doctoral fellowship in pediatric psychology and/or who have hospital-based professional experience are preferred.
