Applicants must have completed an APA accredited doctoral program in clinical or counseling psychology and an APA accredited doctoral internship by 12/31/15. Tennessee HSP license-eligibility preferred, with eventual licensure expected. Competency and motivation to teach graduate level courses in child assessment and the teaching of psychology would be especially well received.
Throughout the hiring process, we look for evidence of candidates’ abilities to contribute to collegiality and good will within our thriving department.
Currently, the Department of Psychology at ETSU comprises 17 full-time faculty. We house an APA-accredited clinical Ph.D. concentration in rural primary care psychology; and an experimental Ph.D. concentration that focuses on translational research, grant-writing, and academic job preparation.
The department expects all successful candidates to establish and maintain active research programs involving undergraduate and graduate students, and to pursue extramural funding. Exceptional collaborative research opportunities across a variety of psychological fields are provided by the James H. Quillen College of Medicine, which operates under the auspices of ETSU, and is consistently ranked nationally among rural colleges of medicine.
ETSU is surrounded by the beautiful Blue Ridge and Appalachian mountains, and is located in Johnson City, Tennessee, which contributes to a metropolitan statistical area of 500,000 residents. The area enjoys a mild climate in both summer and winter, and boasts numerous waterways, parks, trails, and resorts for year-round recreational activities. The area has been ranked as a desirable place to live by several national publications. In August 2012 Johnson City was identified by CNNMoney as being among the nation’s Top 25 most affordable home markets.
Applicants must apply online using the ETSU eJOBS system, which includes uploading their cover letter and CV, and completing the online application form at:https://jobs.etsu.edu/
