Postdoctoral Fellow – Pediatric Psychology (PSYCH 15-00) West Virginia University - Department of Psychology

The West Virginia University Research Corporation (WVURC) seeks to hire a Postdoctoral Fellow – Pediatric Psychology in the Department of Psychology at West Virginia University (WVU). The position is available immediately, with a preferred start date no later than July 1, 2015. This position will serve as the project coordinator for a federally-funded project (PI: Christina Duncan, PhD) involving a randomized clinical trial to evaluate the relative impact of a new asthma action plan format on family knowledge of asthma care, medication adherence, health outcome, and satisfaction with asthma care education in rural youth with asthma. This position involves working closely with pediatric patients with asthma and their families, a digital technology company, and an interdisciplinary healthcare team in the implementation and conduct of this cutting-edge research.  

A PhD in Psychology, Nursing, or Pharmacy, and experience in conducting clinical or applied research are required. An emphasis in pediatric/clinical child psychology or clinical psychology, and/or experience in conducting clinical or applied research with a pediatric care focus are preferred. It is essential for the candidate to have strong communication and interpersonal skills, publication record, organizational skills, experience and comfort in working with technology, and ability to coordinate multiple tasks.

In addition to the candidate’s project tasks, he or she will be expected to contribute to the laboratory through mentorship of graduate and undergraduate students, participation in other research projects, and preparation of manuscripts and grant proposals.
