Position opening:  ASSOCIATE DIRECTOR  

The Center for Research on Families at the University of Massachusetts Amherst is a productive and growing research center, recognized nationally and internationally as a source of state-of-the-art research on a broad, multidisciplinary range of family issues. CRF is a joint center of the College of Natural Sciences and the College of Social and Behavioral Sciences.  Research at CRF encompasses disciplines as diverse as the life sciences, social sciences, public health and nursing, education, and natural resources. CRF’s programs provide expertise, support, and mentorship to researchers at all stages of their academic careers.

The Center for Research on Families invites applications for the position of Associate Director.
The Associate Director for the Center for Research on Families serves as the senior administrator for the fundraising, planning and programming activities of a growing, endowed research organization at the University of Massachusetts Amherst.  The Associate Director has executive responsibility for all operations and programs, including fiscal, communications, strategic planning and development, staff and student supervision, fundraising, University and external relations, and oversight of all Center activities.  
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
A Master’s degree in administration/social sciences with at least 3 years of progressively responsible professional administrative work experience. Successful experience with strategic planning, organizational development, and fundraising. Must be familiar with scholarly research and public policy related to family issues. Excellent communication, writing, and editing skills. Experience in developing successful grant proposals and managing awarded contracts. Experience in financial management of an organization including management of grant and contract budgets. Ability to coordinate and work well with multidisciplinary faculty and external constituents. Experience in providing strong leadership and supervision to staff. Knowledge of computer applications, including website and database management.

Hiring salary range: $45,400 to $56,800
