Assistant Professor of Health Psychology Position Opening-UNC Charlotte

ASSISTANT PROFESSOR, HEALTH PSYCHOLOGY. The Department of Psychology at University of North Carolina, Charlotte (http://www.psych.uncc.edu) invites applications for a tenure-track assistant professor position to begin August 2016. We welcome applicants with research and teaching interests in any area of evidence-based health behavior change and maintenance, and in particular with emphasis on the design and implementation of such programs. 

Required qualifications: Ph.D. degree in Health Psychology or a closely related field; potential for distinguished research productivity that can contribute effectively to the doctoral program in Health Psychology; commitment to teaching a diverse student population at the undergraduate and graduate levels; ability to teach graduate and/or undergraduate courses in behavioral change. 

Preferred qualifications include: A track record of publications and obtaining external funding for research; ability to contribute to graduate training in clinical health psychology; experience teaching courses at the undergraduate and/or graduate levels; potential to teach courses such as undergraduate health psychology, research methods, and other courses related to the applicant’s expertise. 

The Department of Psychology has one of the most popular undergraduate majors on campus; offers M.A. degrees in General Psychology and Industrial/Organizational Psychology; and is closely associated with the interdisciplinary Ph.D. degrees in Health Psychology and Organizational Science. Faculty members in the Health Psychology Ph.D. program work with colleagues from Kinesiology, Nursing, Public Health, Communications and others.
