It has been more than 30 years since Dr. Goldfried has been interested and actively involved in promoting, researching, and putting into practice the integration of different approaches to the practice of psychotherapy. Although most of his efforts, and those of his colleagues, have primarily been devoted to closing the gap among different theoretical orientations, many of them more recently have begun to shift their attention to the important issue of closing the gap between research and practice. The interest is not only in enabling clinicians to learn and utilize the findings of cutting edge research, but for researchers to learn from the observations of clinicians working with the issues that arise in the actual practice of psychotherapy. This webinar will provide an overview of these two approaches to psychotherapy integration, discuss what is being done to integrate practice and research, and hopefully will allow for a lively interaction with the participants.
