Interactive teleconference interviews with David Reid on hypnosis, Michael Brustein on perfectionism, Scott Meier on language and narrative, Sally Augustin on designing your psychotherapy office, and David Steele on developing a coaching practice.

Meet the Authors: An Interview with David Reid, Psy.D.
Thursday February 6th from 5:00PM – 6:00 PM Eastern Time

Dr. Reid is author of, Hypnosis for Behavioral Health: A Guide to Expanding your Professional Practice published by Springer Books.

Dr. Reid was honored with the Arthur Shapiro Award from The Society for Clinical and Experimental Hypnosis for the best book on hypnosis in 2013.
He is a licensed clinical psychologist, author, Adjunct Clinical Professor in the Department of Health Sciences at the James Madison University, and Founder and President of "In The Zone Consulting Inc", a business consulting firm in Central Virginia specializing in leadership training, conflict resolution, and promotion of healthy workplace habits.

Dr. Reid has appeared as a guest on radio and television news programs and served as an expert behavioral health consultant for an ABC affiliate in Harrisonburg, Virginia.
In addition to his work as a psychologist Dr. Reid has written two yet-to-be published psychological thrillers featuring forensic psychologist, Dr. Richard Valese and his crime solving partner, Jake Freeman, a rough-and-ready Baltimore City detective.

Meet the Authors: An Interview with Michael Brustein, PsyD

Dr. Brustein is author of Perfectionism: A Guide for Mental Health Professionals
published by Springer Books.
 
Dr. Brustein is a clinical psychologist currently in private practice in New York City and in New Jersey. He has previously been a supervising psychologist at the James J. Peters VA Medical Center in the Bronx, NY, mentoring psychology interns and medical residents. He has held an assistant professor position at Albert Einstein Medical School and been an attending psychologist at Montefiore Medical Center. He regularly consults with media and production companies assisting with plot and character development relating to mental health issues. Dr. Brustein has taught courses on abnormal psychology, theories of personality, psychotherapy techniques, group therapy, self-psychology, psychodynamics of substance abuse, and bereavement at William Paterson University, The College of New Rochelle, and Brooklyn College.

Dr. Meier is author of Language and Narratives in Counseling and Psychotherapy published by Springer Books.

Dr. Meier is is Professor in the Department of Counseling, School, and Educational Psychology, University at Buffalo. He is a licensed psychologist whose major research and teaching areas focus on psychological measurement (particularly outcome assessment), research methods (particularly program evaluation), and counseling skills (particularly the integration of case conceptualization and assessment with intervention). He is a member of the American Evaluation Association, the Association for Psychological Science, and the Association for Behavioral and Cognitive Therapies. Meier is the author or co-author of 5 books, including Measuring Change in Counseling and Psychotherapy and the best-selling textbook Elements of Counseling. He has published in the American Psychologist, Canadian Journal of School Psychology, Journal of Counseling Psychology, Measurement and Evaluation in Counseling and Development, and the American Journal of Evaluation.

Meet the Experts: An Interview with Sally Augustin, PhD

Dr. Augustin will discuss the topic: "Designing Your Psychotherapy Office: What Science Suggests to Us."

Dr. Augustin is a practicing environmental psychologist who has consulted with individuals as well as organizations to create places where people thrive and objects that they cherish.  Sally is a principal at Design With Science where her consulting work focuses on incorporating important psychological considerations into the design of places and objects. As the editor of Research Design Connections, she has written widely on science-based design for a broad audience of people interested in the designed world. Her Research Design Connections blog is read by thousands of individuals each month. Dr. Augustin also holds leadership positions in professional organizations such as the International Association of Applied Psychology (environmental psychology division), the American Psychological Association (environmental psychology division), and the Environmental Design Research Association. In addition to speaking on person-centered design at major professional conferences in Europe, Asia, and North America, she has been interviewed on National Public Radio and VoiceAmerica radio programs.  She is a graduate of Wellesley College (BA), Northwestern University (MBA), and Claremont Graduate University (PhD).  Dr. Augustin is the author of Place Advantage:  Applied Psychology for Interior Architecture(Wiley, 2009).
