Dr. Cushing will discuss the topic, “Involving Technology in Interventions with Clients"

Dr. Cushing is Assistant Professor of Psychology at Oklahoma State University. He received his PhD. In Clinical Child Psychology from the University of Kansas.
His research interests are in the promotion and maintenance of behaviors that advance the physical and psychological health and wellbeing of children, adolescents, and their families. He is particularly interested in leveraging digital technologies (i.e., iPods, smartphones, body sensors) to enhance what is already known about the adoption of regular physical activity and healthy dietary behaviors. He is interested in psychosocial measures of subjective well-being such as quality of life, and the effect that health behavior has on these variables. Each of these areas informs a larger interest in an ecological systems approach to curbing pediatric overweight and obesity. He also maintains an interest in measure development and assessment as well as quality of life issues in a number of other pediatric health conditions.
