Research Support Specialist


Required Qualifications: Bachelor's Degree. Research experience in a psychology or neuroscience setting. Research experience interacting with and supervising humans in a research setting. Interviewing experience, ability to demonstrate professional competence in research activities.Preferred Qualifications: Bachelor's or Master's degree in Psychology, Neuroscience or related field. One or more years of research experience in a psychology or neuroscience setting; of research experience interacting with and supervising humans in a research setting; of interviewing experience, and ability to demonstrate advanced professional competence in research activities. Research experience in autism spectrum disorders and/or fMRI/other neuroimaging analysis.

Brief Description of Duties: The Research Support Specialist will assist in the regular operation of a funded research study examining depression in adults with autism via neuroimaging, as well as a funded research lab studying social functioning in children and adolescents with and without autism spectrum disorders. The selected candidate will be responsible for:

  • Subject recruitment, screening interviews, and scheduling in two different laboratories.
  • RA training, task supervision and assignment, and scheduling in two different laboratories
  • Community and school interfacing.
  • Intellectual and diagnostic testing in two different laboratories.
  • fMRI and other data analysis.
  • Lab management including ordering supplies, data, and file management in two different laboratories.
  • Assist with IRB compliance, progress reports, figures in two different laboratories.

Special Notes: This is a full time position, 40 hours per week, Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. The Research Foundation of SUNY is a private educational corporation. Employment is subject to the Research Foundation policies and procedures, sponsor guidelines and the availability of funding. Internal and external search to occur simultaneously. FLSA Nonexempt position, eligible for the overtime provisions of the FLSA. **Applications will be accepted until the position is filled.
