Psychology Fellowship Opportunity

Division of Pediatric Hematology, Oncology and Stem Cell Transplantation at the Columbia University Medical Center provides both outpatient and inpatient services for children diagnosed with cancer, and blood disorders, as well as a stem cell transplantation program for both malignant and non-malignant disorders. A multidisciplinary team of physicians, psychologists, physical therapists, nurses, social workers, child life specialists, art and music therapists, and medical fellows work collaboratively to address the complex problems faced by patients and their families. The psychology fellow will participate in didactic seminars and hospital-wide seminars and receive training in clinical supervision. Direct supervision will be provided by Dr. Stephen Sands.

Clinical Track (1 year): This fellowship consists of clinical training in pediatric psycho-oncology, direct clinical care of patients and families, and participation in developing clinical programs and research at the Columbia University Medical Center. Clinical activities include inpatient and outpatient therapy, as well as neuropsychological assessment. Additional opportunities include psychosocial screening in our Survivorship program, pre-bone stem cell transplant evaluation, and palliative care services. Clinical hours and supervision for licensure will be provided.

Fellowship position is anticipated to begin in September of 2014. Candidates with previous clinical and research experience in pediatric behavioral medicine are encouraged to apply. Stipend is approximately $45,000 plus benefits. All applicants must have: 1) attended an APA-accredited graduate program in clinical, school-child, or health psychology; 2) completed an APA-accredited internship; and 3) completed all requirements for their doctoral degree prior to beginning the position.
