Assistant or Associate Professor, Utah State University
The Department of Psychology at Utah State University seeks candidates for a tenure-track Assistant or Associate Professor position to begin August 2015. The successful candidate will join and support the growing Sociobehavioral Epidemiology emphasis area within the department. Candidates are sought with research interests and teaching experience in one or several of the following areas: quantitative psychology, psychometrics, prevention science, epidemiology, social psychology, public health. We are particularly interested in individuals with strengths in quantitative methods, research methodology, and statistics (e.g., latent variable modeling, multilevel analysis, mixture modeling) as well as those with a background in social psychology.
Utah State University is located within the beautiful mountain ranges of the Cache Valley in Northeastern Utah. The area provides a wealth of recreational possibilities, a high quality of life, and an affordable cost of living.
Responsibilities Include:
1) Conduct research and other scholarly activities, including the pursuit of external funding;
2) Teach undergraduate and graduate classes within area of expertise and department need. The typical departmental teaching load is four courses per year, but release from up to three courses per year is negotiable with external funding;
3) Mentor graduate students on their research activities;
4) Provide service contributions to the college, university, and department. Service activities might include sitting on relevant committees.
Minimum Qualifications:
1) Earned doctorate degree by August 2015 in Psychology or a closely related field (e.g., Behavioral Public Health, Prevention Science, Social/Behavioral Epidemiology, Health Economics);
2) Productivity in research and scholarly activities, and evidence of potential for grant funding;
3) Evidence of excellent teaching potential and ability to mentor students;
4) Effective oral, written, and interpersonal skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
1) Expertise in quantitative psychology;
2) Current extramurally-funded research;
3) Previous university teaching experience, including social psychology.
