Patient-Centered Pediatric Research Program Fellowship - Nationwide Children’s Hospital

Patient-Centered Pediatric Research Program Fellowship: The Research Institute at Nationwide Children’s Hospital, Columbus, Ohio, in affiliation with The Ohio State University College of Medicine, Department of Pediatrics, has openings for post-doctoral fellows in the Patient-Centered Pediatric Research Program starting September 1, 2015. This program is designed to prepare fellows to engage in independent research in child health settings and become leaders in the conduct of patient- and family-centered outcomes research, including clinical trials, observational clinical research, and health services research.

Current areas of faculty research include, but are not limited to:

·         Adolescent depression and suicide

·         Behavioral economics applied to health outcomes

·         Biological mechanisms of stress and psychopathology

·         Decision making and cost effectiveness of surgical interventions

·         Health literacy and self-management in chronic illness

·         Pediatric trauma outcomes and injury prevention research

·         Innovative interventions to promote resilience in chronic illness

·         Nutrition and developmental outcomes in prematurity

·         Palliative care and bereavement

·         Psychosocial outcomes related to pediatric illness (e.g., cancer, IBD, craniofacial anomalies)

Fellows will receive training in research methods, grantsmanship, and academic career development. They will also develop and conduct at least one research project with a faculty mentor leading to publications, national presentations, and an external funding proposal. We are seeking doctoral level candidates (e.g., PhD, MD) with pediatric research interests aligned with one or more of the program faculty. Participating faculty are from the Center for Biobehavioral Health, the Center for Injury Research and Policy, and the Center for Innovation in Pediatric Practice. Candidates for these positions must have obtained their doctoral degree by the start date. All fellowships are assumed to be 2 years in duration. Salary is commensurate with NIH guidelines, and benefits are competitive.
