Children's Health/Children's Medical Center Dallas Oncology Psychologist Position

The Center for Pediatric Psychiatry and Pauline Allen Gill Center for Cancer and Blood Disorders at Children’s HealthSM Children’s Medical Center (Dallas, TX) are seeking a full-time psychologist to provide clinical services, research, teaching/supervision, and program development related to the care of children, adolescents, and young adults with cancer.
 
As a member of the Oncology Psychology team, the psychologist will evaluate and provide evidence-based inpatient and outpatient intervention services to patients diagnosed with an oncological illness. The psychologist will provide care for patients diagnosed with hematological malignancies and solid/CNS tumors as well as patients undergoing stem cell transplant. Primary responsibilities include inpatient and outpatient consultation and intervention, pre-stem cell transplant evaluations, and consultation with medical teams and psychosocial teams, as well as supervision and didactic teaching for practicum students, predoctoral interns, and postdoctoral fellows. Clinical interventions typically focus on mood disruption, anxiety, disruptive behavior, adherence, adjustment to illness, and pain management. The psychologist hired for this position will also be expected to participate in specialty committees designed to enhance patient care in the Pauline Allen Gill Center for Cancer and Blood Disorders as well as multi-disciplinary rounds, selection committees, psychosocial rounds, and other departmental events and initiatives.  
This position is part of the Psychology reporting structure within the department of Psychiatry, which includes other psychologists and therapists integrated into pediatric subspecialty areas. Psychology staff members have close and supportive working relationships with hospital-based physician specialists and community pediatricians. The division has a well developed training program with an APA-accredited predoctoral internship and post-doctoral fellowship in clinical child psychology. The position involves frequent opportunities for teaching and supervision of psychology trainees as well as medical students and pediatric residents. Although clinical and educational activities will be the primary focus of this position, research and other scholarly activity will be encouraged and is highly valued. Opportunities exist for collaborative research with established researchers. The position will be considered for a faculty appointment in the Department of Psychiatry at UT Southwestern Medical Center.
Qualifications
Education
-          Ph.D. or Psy.D. in Clinical, Counseling, or School Psychology from an APA-accredited doctoral program
-          Postdoctoral fellowship training in clinical child or pediatric health psychology (postdoctoral training in pediatric psycho-oncology preferred)
-          Internship training from an APA-accredited program in clinical child or pediatric health psychology
 
Licenses & certifications
-          A passing score on the EPPP at the level required for licensure by the Texas State Board of Examiners of Psychologists (required prior to on-site interviews at Children’s HealthSM Children’s Medical Center)
-          Licensure as a Psychologist or as a Provisionally Licensed Psychologist in Texas by date of hire
Experience
        -          Previous experience with pediatric oncology populations is required.
        -          Previous experience and commitment to evidence-based treatments is required.      
            -         Evidence for commitment to research with this population is preferred
