Postdoctoral position available on NIH-funded randomized clinical trial of Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction

A full-time postdoctoral position is available to work with Dr. David Fresco and Dr. Joel Hughes on the Serenity Study, an NIH-funded randomized clinical trial examining the efficacy and mechanisms of Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction (MBSR) as an intervention for prehypertension. The ideal candidate is a scientifically-minded and methodologically-skilled individual with interest in discerning psychological, biological, and behavioral mechanisms by which mindfulness meditation may reduce high blood pressure. Primary responsibilities of this position are assisting the PI in recruitment and tracking of study participants throughout the intervention and longitudinal phases of the study, data management, analysis, and manuscript preparation. The fellow also will have opportunities to mentor and collaborate with graduate students and to supervise post-BA and undergraduate research projects.  Finally, the research associate will be mentored to assist in their transition to an independent research career through the acquisition of writing and presentation skills and through the development of national and international collaborations.  Candidates should have a Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology or a related field.  Experience with clinical trials and/or mindfulness interventions are a plus. Please send curriculum vita, letter of interest, and three letters of recommendations to David M. Fresco, Department of Psychological Sciences, Kent State University, 144 Kent Hall Annex, Kent, OH 44242 or via email to: fresco@kent.edu. The search remains open until position is filled. Kent State University is an equal opportunity, affirmative action employer.
