CLINICAL PSYCHOLOGY POSTDOCTORAL FELLOWSHIP WITH EMPHASIS ON LESBIAN, GAY, BISEXUAL AND TRANSGENDER (LGBT) VETERANS HEALTHCARE AND PSYCHOSOCIAL REHABILITATION
We are re-opening recruitment for a psychology fellowship with a dual emphasis on LGBT Healthcare and Psychosocial Rehabilitation at the VA Connecticut Healthcare System in West Haven, CT. Applications will be reviewed on a rolling basis and individuals are encouraged to submit their materials by March 27th or sooner for highest consideration. The position will be open until filled so applications are welcomed at any time.  An interview is required and while we prefer in person interviews, we are happy to accommodate phone or video conferencing interviews.

This fellowship is based at the Errera Community Care Center (ECCC) and falls within the Residency with an Emphasis in Psychosocial Rehabilitation (PSR). The PSR residency follows the scientist-practitioner model and is designed to provide advanced training in psychosocial rehabilitation to mental health professionals from various disciplines over a year long (full-time) commitment. There are opportunities for both clinical and research experiences. Additional clinical experiences will also occur on the main VACHS campus (Mental Health, Women’s Clinic, etc.). It is expected that the fellow will provide individual counseling, group therapy, or consultation services for LGBT Veterans within each clinic and/or at the ECCC. Residents will develop individualized projects with close mentoring from faculty on the treatment of LGBT Veterans. Many opportunities exist for participating in ongoing collaborative research and scholarly writing. Residents receive Yale appointments. This is an exciting opportunity to participate in the development and provision of new services for LGBT Veterans within the VA system. Successful applicants should have a strong interest in the treatment of LGBT Veterans and community mental health. Salary for doctoral-level psychology residents is $46,553. Federal benefits provided. Residents receive Yale appointments. Completion of degree is required by the start of the residency – September 1st, 2015. Additional information about the fellowship, along with information on eligibility, application process, and program contacts can be accessed via our online brochure at: http://www.psychologytraining.va.gov/westhaven/ within the materials for the clinical psychology fellowship with a PSR emphasis.
