Master's or Bachelor's Level Research Position

A new research team at Appalachian State University, directed by Professor Cynthia Anderson, is seeking a full-time Project Coordinator. The preferred start date is July 1, 2015. The Project Coordinator will manage a federally-funded project (PI: Cynthia Anderson, PhD) aimed at developing and evaluating a comprehensive, school-based intervention for children with a diagnosis of autism spectrum disorder.
In addition to the Project Coordinator’s tasks, he or she will contribute to the overall conduct of the research laboratory by participating in other projects, assisting in preparation of grant proposals and manuscripts, and assisting in supervision of undergraduate and graduate student research. Opportunities exist to gain supervision hours towards licensure as a Licensed Psychological Associate or Board Certified Behavior Analyst. The position can be tailored towards the candidate’s individual training interests and the PI is committed to helping the Project coordinator reach his or her career goals.

Required Qualifications Include:
·      Bachelors Degree in Psychology or Special Education
·      At least one year of active participation in an applied research team
·      Strong communication skills
·      Experience working with Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and web-based programs (e.g., Google Calendar, Google Docs, Qualtrics)
·      Schedule flexibility: Because the research involves working with children, families, and schools, hours will vary week-to-week and could include occasional weekends and evenings

Desired Qualifications Include:
·      Master’s degree in Psychology or Special Education
·      BCBA or BCaBA certification
·      Experience implementing interventions derived from applied behavior analysis with children with a diagnosis of autism spectrum disorder
·      Experience working in school settings

The successful candidate will be responsible for managing the research project including participant recruitment and screening, coordinating data collection using interviews, rating scales, and direct observation methods, and management of multiple large datasets.
