Job Announcement - Healthy Steps in the Bronx

Healthy Steps Specialist  
Exciting career opportunity!  Work alongside an incredible staff of pediatricians, pediatric residents and psychologists, psychiatrists and 
social workers in a Healthy Steps program (www.healthysteps.org) in the Bronx.  

Healthy Steps is a national initiative that emphasizes a close relationship between health care professionals and parents to address the physical, emotional, and intellectual growth and development of children from birth to age five.

While Healthy Steps is designed to provide support to parents of all social and economic backgrounds, it is particularly important to provide these services in low-income communities where infants and toddlers are vulnerable to the multiple risk factors associated with poverty.  This specific program is of superior quality and has received local and national attention.  It is located in a large dynamic pediatric clinic in the Bronx, designated as a Federally Qualified Health Center and part of the Montefiore Medical Group. http://www.montefiore.org/mmg

Candidate will also have access to a wealth of educational opportunities as part of Montefiore, a major teaching hospital in the Bronx.

Job opening is for a Healthy Steps Specialist.  Candidate will be part of a Healthy Steps team (seven programs operating in the Montefiore system) and work with the Healthy Steps Director and other Healthy Steps Specialists to provide preventive services, including social emotional/behavioral and developmental screening of young children, mental health screening of pregnant mothers, education of pediatricians and pediatric residents, facilitation of referrals, and provision of intervention as needed. 

Ideal candidate will have:

 * Licensed psychologist in NY state

* Experience and knowledge about early child growth and development, parent-child relationships, child health, and family systems

* Experience assessing the growth and development of infants and children under five years of age

* Experience working with mothers and fathers; experience facilitating parent groups preferred

* Demonstrated flexibility to work on an interdisciplinary team; ability
to work in various roles and capacities and to respect boundaries in
each role

* Ability to establish mutually satisfying relationships with a wide range of people
* Enthusiasm about exploring new roles
* Capacity to be reflective about work and role
* Ability to work independently

* Experience working in a medical setting or with health professionals

SPANISH SPEAKING STRONGLY PREFERRED.
