New York City Clinical/Counseling Psychology Externship in LGB-Affirmative Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy

The ESTEEM Program, affiliated with the Yale School of Public Health, delivers empirically supported treatments to gay and bisexual men in New York City. Pending final funding decisions, we are currently seeking advanced psychology doctoral student externs to deliver cognitive-behavioral therapy for depression, anxiety, and substance use as part of a National Institute of Mental Health trial of LGB-affirmative psychotherapy. Therapists can expect to provide short-term cognitive-behavioral therapy, conduct structured diagnostic assessments, and provide HIV counseling and testing for 10-16 hours per week depending on their availability. Opportunities also exist to
prepare scientific manuscripts and receive training in conducting clinical research. University-affiliated New York State-licensed clinical psychologists provide individual and group supervision. Our office is located in downtown Manhattan, easily accessible by public transportation. Ideal candidates will possess theoretical and practical knowledge of cognitive-behavioral therapy, have experience working with the LGBTQ community, and have completed coursework in adult psychopathology, clinical assessment, and evidence-based intervention. New York City Clinical Research Postdoctoral Fellowship in LGBT Mental Health at the Yale School of Public Health

The ESTEEM Program, affiliated with the Yale School of Public Health, develops and delivers empirically supported interventions to gay and bisexual men in New York City. Pending final funding decisions, successful candidates will primarily be involved in a cognitive behavioral treatment study for young adult gay and bisexual men with major depressive, anxiety, and/or substance use disorders. The primary duties for this position will be split between: (a) project direction, assessment, and intervention responsibilities on NIH grants and (b) delivery of psychological treatments to research participants. The position will provide postdoctoral clinical hours and supervision necessary for licensure. Our office is located in downtown Manhattan,
easily accessible by public transportation. Although the primary responsibilities of the position are clinical in nature, ample time and opportunities are available for grant-related and independent
research. Ideal candidates will possess specialized theoretical and practical knowledge of evidence-based intervention and have experience working with the LGBTQ community.
